Question: What is the best fitness equipment for weight loss?
(Posted by: Ladiami on 2010-02-05 00:50:31)
Obviously its important to do a mixture of different workouts. Though I have no intention of getting a gym membership because i dont like the public atmosphere. My plan is to get a set of dumbells and hire one peice of cardio equipment. Do you suggest an elliptical cross trainer ($90 p/ month) or an exercise bike ($60 p/ month)? I dont want anything too noisy. Common sense tells me the elliptical trainer would be better, but I want to be certain. walking involves heat... i live in the tropics and im not interested in sweating like a pig for an hour every day. at home i have aircon. :P also the acai berry and colon cleanse thing. i tried it for like 5 months, it was alright. not as fast as it claimed to be. but the government intercepted the 6th package and stole it, said it contained golden root seed or something (Australia has an embargo against goods containing endangered species). |

A comfy pair of shoes - which enables you to walk, run, hike, dance, play team sports, do some weight training (like push ups, squats, lunges & crunches), etc. The best thing about them is that you can exercise anytime and anywhere you want to. Or perhaps a fitness DVD, there are alot to choose from & you can do it in your air-conditioned lounge. Whatever types of fitness equipment you do choose, make sure it's something you'll find fun to use. Because being physically active is a long term healthy lifestyle choice, and not just a way to lose a few pounds in the short-term. And try not to rely on diet pills. They are only a short-term solution - healthy eating & regular exercise is the way to go. |

An eliptical trainer and exercise bike are both great choices. you can vary intensities easily, they are comfortable and dont put unnecessary pressure on your body like running can. if the bike hurts your butt, sit on a pillow! and the bonus is, you can set them up in front of your telly and you dont hear a thing! (from the machines, not the tv lol). if you can afford it, get both or alternate months for variety! they are much the same, it depends how you use them. perhaps the bike whilst you a building up your fitness (you can vary the intensity easily, not so much with the eliptical trainer). i personally have become attached to my eliptical trainer now that my fitness has improved. see how you go for a month with both then decide what gives you a better workout based on how you feel :) |
